Interlaken Park

Interlaken Park is a dense 51-acre park nested between the northern end of the Montlake neighborhood and the southern end of Capitol Hill. If you’re looking for a small escape within city limits then head to Interlaken Park. Thick trees line the perimeter of the park blocking out the urban buzz for some quiet time. If you can, get there on a nice day, as you’ll find the overhead tree canopy filters the sunlight creating a vibrant, shimmering landscape.

There are a handful of trails to choose from depending on where you enter, they start steepest from the North and lowest from the South. The northern loop spans a few miles and is accessible via foot. If you're on a bike you can ride down Interlaken Drive and make your way onto the bike trail after the last switchback or turn left towards the boulevard. As you delve deeper into the park you’ll find trail openings scattered throughout the area allowing you to mix-up your adventure without too much worry of getting lost.

Birdlife at Interlaken is fairly diverse with common sightings of birds native to the Puget Sound area. Keep your eyes out for the barred owls near the cotton wood trees! Whether you’re on a bike or foot, Interlaken Park is a great refuge for the urbanite seeking a few hours of peace.
