Waste to Landfill

Every year, Americans throw away 14.3 million tons of textiles, with the average individual accounting for 65 pounds of clothing going to landfill alone. At most, only 15% of these garments are resold on secondhand markets. The remainder pile up in landfills where they won't biodegrade, particularly if they are made with synthetic fibers such as nylon and polyester.

What is SOURCE doing?

SOURCE Denim's innovative dyeing process replaces the use of heavy chemicals with a material called chitosan, which naturally binds to indigo dyes. This material is actually a by-product of the food-processing industry, so that waste that would usually go to landfill becomes an amazing dye-binding agent that makes our jeans ever so green!

Nowadays, the apparel industry is all about disposability and seasonality. But at SOURCE, we value clothing that lasts across seasons and is versatile in wherever you choose to wear them. That's why SOURCE Jeans are built to last a lifetime. And if they break down before then, we'll repair them for you free of charge. And when they've reached the end of their lifespan, send them back to us to be repurposed into other textile goods!
